A lone pier stretches into the ominous waters under a foreboding sky, as two shaded hands hesitantly reach out, embodying the tension and uncertainty between connection and isolation.

Let’s talk about intimidation. At some point, we’ve all felt it — that sense of feeling small, scared to walk into a room , or fear of initiating social interactions. But here’s what I’ve learned about intimidation:

1| It’s more about perception than reality. What you’re feeling might not be about them — it might be about what you believe about yourself. Reframe it: “This isn’t about me being a weirdo — it’s about me learning.”

2 | Confidence doesn’t come before action — it comes from it. You won’t feel ready at first. That’s valid. But intimidation fades when you keep showing up and push past the awkward.

3 | Curiosity is your safe guard. Ask questions. Get to know the people or spaces that feel intimidating. The more you understand, the less power fear has. You don’t have to wait to feel confident — just take the small steps.

Boldness will come as you keep walking.
