the power of rest..

One thing I wish I had learned earlier in my life: the power of rest.
In my twenties, I pushed myself to the point of burnout. I rarely took breaks and often ignored the signs my body was giving me. I felt a constant need to prove myself, carry every responsibility, and meet every expectation — all without pause.
I believed rest was something I’d “earn” after I achieved enough. But the truth is, rest isn’t a reward — it’s a necessity. It wasn’t until I hit a particularly difficult season that I was forced to slow down. At first, I didn’t even know how to rest. I had to unlearn the internal voice that said things like “you’re lazy” or “you should be doing more.”
Through this process, I began to rediscover what replenished me: things like art, journaling, and meaningful time with friends. Little by little, rest became less foreign and more foundational.
Now, I feel clearer, calmer, and more equipped to handle life’s challenges — both personally and professionally. We don’t build resilience by pushing ourselves to the brink. We build it through balance, reflection, and rest.
I’m curious — how have you been creating space for rest in your life and work?
